Demand for Battery Metals has increased significantly in the last two decades. The focus on battery metal demand recently has been on electric vehicles (EV) and grid power storage.
The number of available plug-in hybrids and battery-electric models announced by automakers for 2021 has grown by almost 40 percent since mid-2017. As a result, demand for lithium carbonate equivalent will be about 475,000 tons by 2021 and 1 million tons by 2025.
